When skepticism becomes laziness

Alyssa Miller

Abstract:

Sit right there while I tell you all about our new cloud natively agnostic military grade blockchain powered agentic AI accelerated identity first zero trust enabled solution. What?? Are you not entertained? As cybersecurity folks we’ve made a sport out of deriding solutions vendors for their their ridiculously buzzword laden marketing. And yet, how much of this is of our own making? In this conversation we’ll analyze how hackers, practitioners and everyone in between have participated in creating the very thing we proclaim to despise. Prepare for getting called out on how our criticisms are often rooted in laziness and become counter productive. But it won’t just be hand waving, we’re going to get into how we can find usefulness in the noise and strike that balance between skepticism and denial. You’ll need to be ready and able to laugh at yourself, engage in some healthy self deprecation, but most of all be open to the idea that maybe by changing our own habits we can correct those of the vendors we love to hate.
